Hi all - I wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm hoping this is the appropriate place.

Just wanted to briefly relay my experience with the pocketpods.net company, which travels and sets up temporary shops to sell their MP4 players at deep discounts. I was handed a flier about a month ago near my office in downtown Chicago stating that "iPods" were being sold for $39.99 at a hotel across the street. I went in and bought two 1GB MP4 players that also play FM radio and video.

There are several shady aspects to the company. Even though they turned them on before selling them, these weren't iPods and when I got them home I saw that the software and click wheel weren't nearly as functional as what I get with my Nano. I considered returning them, as I was given some kind of "100% guarantee" in the temporary store but soon found that the website made that difficult to do. I decided against giving one of the MP4 players as a Christmas present, but the giftee found it so I gave it to him reluctantly and explained that this was probably just a scam. I was able to get it to work (though not with iTunes or Windows Media Player), and he ended up loving it.

I can't comment on the durability, but I thought I'd post something letting people know that they do in fact work but they aren't very intuitive to use. Don't buy unless you're prepared to tinker with it.

Please feel free to share your experiences with this company as well. My guess is that this company is traveling all over the country with these products, so I wanted to post something somewhere on epinions.

there is a very common joke here about the guys selling speakers ot of their cars in grocery store parking lots, every fews yo see a new rond of it. chinese made, poor qality and to the unedcated eye, Boston, Klipsch, Infinity products. lol, if it seems too good to be true....

Pocketpods cost him $8 each to ship in from China.
