What Would You Get?
If you could buy any musical instrument today, what would you get? A Taylor 810 guitar? A Fender US-built Stratocaster guitar? Gretch drums? Steinway piano? (Is Steinway still around?) What is the instrument of your dreams? Can you play it?

RE: What Would You Get?
This one is easy. A 17-piece pearl drum set or a 1930 Martin OM-45 DLX. |

RE: What Would You Get?
I'd get a carbon fiber flute.
Yes I can play it. I think it looks really cool too. |

I have a carbon fiber guitar. Get a couple more carbon fiber instruments and we could have the Graphite Group.

Let's see... I could get Andrew one of these violins. All we need is a drummer who can get this kit and someone who can play stand up bass and we're all set!

Cool! I can play drums a little and that set looked awesome. I don't know any fiddlers but a former co-worker plays a little stand-up bass. We're almost there.

Andrew doesn't exactly 'fiddle' but he does play some violin. I think we got us a band, yo! |

RE: What Would You Get?
Actually, I am going to try to get back my Stinger by Martin electric guitar that I sold to a friend's daughter for $50.00 a few years ago. I realize that deal has probably put me in the "Really Dumb Deal Hall of Fame".
I do know who owns the guitar now. It's a kid at my church, actually. It's just that I will now have to cough up the bucks to buy it back, if he wishes to sell it.
A similar Stinger guitar went for $157.50 on Ebay recently, and that is a bargain. However, I just don't have the money to spend on a guitar though.
Other than that, I don't really have a fantasy guitar that I'd like to own. I used to really like Buck Owen's red, white and blue guitar though.

Depends on what you mean by Today? Do you mean an instrument that is made today?
Then my answer is the new Stratocaster VG, that is one sweet modeling guitar.
If you mean what instrument would I buy today (assuming your hypothetical question gives us the hypothetical money to make this purchase), then I would buy an original 1950s Gibson Les Paul.
(which I would sell on Ebay and buy a re issue, and send Nick to college) |

I was thinking about an instrument that is manufactured today. No going back in time and buying up three years of Stradivarius' output!

RE: What Would You Get?
yeah, then Id go with that Strat VG, I've played it almost every time I've gone into the music shop while I wait for Nick to take his lesson. Its one sweet modeling guitar.
Our music store carries Hagstrom now. They carry some cool looking guitars, I was monkeying around with one that looks reminicent of a Les Paul. It has a pair of humbuckers. I plugged it into a Fender 57 Reissue Blues amp, and the combo of the two sounded really sweet! |
