Watch for Charges

I actually fell for these scams as well and gave two different companies my credit card information before they both told me that they were out of stock and I would get the camera three months later so I cancelled. My dad then used his credit card for Express Cameras and they fooled my mom into upgrading for "free" which in turn cost us $500. When we called the credit card company to cancel they said that the $900 charge was set up so that every month another $900 would be taken out. These companies sell your credit card information even if you cancel your order. They also fooled my mom when they called and said that although they had an american express option on the internet they did not take it and needed another credit card number so we all had to get multiple new credit card numbers. So, if you have ever purchased anything from any of these sites, get a new card, because they now have your identity and it is only a matter of time before they take you for all you have without you even knowing it. Also, I would really review your credit card statement since the purchase or canceled order with your card company because they know if the charge has been set on a monthly or yearly payment schedule.

Do not order from these guy's
they pulled the same thing on me. I ordered a Cannon 40D and they called me back, asked if I wanted a 5 hour battery and fast charger, told me that the lenses I ordered were not that great and that the lens he recommended for $600 more the the price of the 2 original cannon lenses but was actually only worth $300. They also gave the the "5 hour" battery and a rapid charger, which are really the normal ones the camera normally come with.

STAY AWAY AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK (They will probably go "out of business" soon and be reborn under a new name)

Beware of these liars, steelers, scammers... (add any other degrading word for businesses you can come up with)

They attract you with a good price, then they want you to call and confirm the order, at which time they will ask you for your security code on your credit card, and tell you, the item you ordered is actually a lower quality item (in my case it was a Canon EF lens with a plastic mount - the picture shows clearly metal! The "upsell" to metal mount would cost you $100, which makes the item more expensive than e.g. amazon.com. When you want to cancel the order, they babbel something of a 15% "cancellation fee". The so called "customer service" rep may be the master of rude - but not of my money :-)
Needless to say, that I called my CC company and they won't see a dime... but I'd like to broadcast these shady practices to the world, simply to save as many people as possible time and aggravation.

RE: 1wayphoto.com

When it comes to camera gear, it's best to stick with companies that you've heard of. You might get a good deal wtih an unknown company on the Internet, but you might also get a pocket full of trouble. Sorry to hear that these guys were dishonest and hope you can get it squared away somehow.

RE: 1wayphoto.com

I ordered Canon lens from them. And they requested my confirmation call and I did. This guy asked me to upgrade my lens and I said no because it will cost me another 300 dollers. So cancelled my order. I could cancel very smoothly... The guy was very pleasant. And I even received e-mail confirming my cancellation. It says they cancelled my order and my credit card will not be charged.

I am worried because it was so smooth and easy.... Is there anything that I have to keep an eye on? Is this confirmation e-mail good enough as a proof fs somthing happens in the future?

A CONSUMER SCAM ALERT!!! 1WAYPHOTO.COM

A CONSUMER SCAM ALERT!!! 1WAYPHOTO.COM IN NEW YORK

ORDER #:53260-99767221-WO

A website called 1wayphoto.com IN NEW YORK, 5409 18TH AVE BROOKLYN, NY 11204 1-800-728-9461 ripped us off, and many others.... we have a receipt for our purchase of $1,996.91 but they charged our credit card $2,959.97. That means they over charged us $963.06. We have already filed a complaint with the FBI fraud division, the attorney generals office and other organizations. There are numerous complaints on file in New York BBB about this company. They sent us cheap equipment that we never ordered, and the equipment did not come from Panasonic, its some cheap knock off brand. We only paid for a camera some high end, high quality accessories, but that is NOT what we received. We want our money back $963.06. We want our $963.06 back, I did research online by typing in fraud and 1wayphoto.com, I read an amazing amount of complaints using the same bait and switch scam on several other customers. So I am not the first, but we want our money back. Times are too hard to loose money off of a scam. We only wanted the camera. They seemed shady when we had to "verify" our credit card security number with a phone call. Most companies can do this from the shopping cart online, thats the purpose of the code so you DONT have to verify the code over the phone. When I talked to Michael he tried to sell me 2 other high priced cameras. I told him no thank you and that we were only calling to verify our credit card. He seemed a bit rude after that point. We paid $147.92 for 1 day delivery and when I got the box it had our camera plus extra items that I never ordered, and the items we did order was not in the box. They tried to trick us into buy extra equipment and accessories and we declined and then they tried to make us feel bad for making the purchase that we did by talking bad about the camera we had just purchased from them, they said that they could sell us another camera that was better, I was firm about the sell because that is a camera that we wanted and was recommended by a friend. The Panasonic AG-DVX100b, all we wanted was the camera. They sent us a receipt for our purchase of $1,996.91 and they sent another email stating we had to verify our credit card. $1,996.91 was all that we had $2,000.00 was the limit that we had on our card, they over charged us by $963.06!!!!!! We ordered a so called Platinum Package Qty:1 $749.99 and there are several items missing from the package.... and the parts that came with the camera are the cheapest parts you can buy. Something you could buy at a grocery store vs a high end camera store. We not only want our money back but we want to prevent others from falling pray to this scam!!!!!

1wayphoto.com -- Do Not Do Business!

Sam as other posters. Thought I could get a really good deal on a Canon Powershot SD 990. When I called to confirm my purchase, I was given a very hard sell for over-priced batteries, charger, case, etc., etc. Shortly after, I got an email saying the camera was no longer in stock, Riiiight. Do not do business with these creeps.

RE: A CONSUMER SCAM ALERT!!! 1WAYPHOTO.COM

Dam i wish I read this before falling for their bait and switch. I was overcharged by the same tactics described except I did not authorize the charge on my credit card when I called them. I am filing a dispute with my CC company. Did anyone else have success getting their money back? I would think there is protection from the credit card company.

A Recent Experience with 1WayPhoto

So I ordered a Panasonic for $1,300 - plus a little more for the "Gold Package" which was supposed to come with a wide angle lense, a telephone lense, carrying case and a tripod - a bunch of stuff.

After a day, my card hadn't yet been charged.

So I called and it took me a while to get through to someone. A man picked up and I told him I was calling to confirm an order. He told me he had to put me through to the proper department. I was on hold again. The SAME man picked up and answered "Cameras."

I told him I was calling to confirm an order. He asked me for an order number and I gave it.

He went over the list of stuff that came with the "gold package" and I said okay. Then he asked me if I needed a charger. I told him 'no' - the camera charges it. He argued it and so I added the charge for four hundred dollars. He asked me if I needed an LCD viewfinder. This time I KNEW it was a part of the camera, he told me it wasn't. I told him no anyway. So he put the purchase through at nearly three grand (up from 1,300!)

After I hung I up, I googled them and found a slew of bad reviews. I immediately called my bank and cancelled the card and told them not to authorize ANY transactions.

I called 1WayPhoto to officially cancel, mind you this is ten minutes after I originally talked to him and I got a message saying that they were closed for the day.

I e-mailed them to not send the stuff and cancel the order.

I refuse to allow them to do this to me. If they attempt to, well, I live in NYC and I'll go out to Brooklyn and bash their heads in.

-Eric
