BMW = beat my wallet... I bought a 1993 BMW 318is two years ago. I didn't pay that much for it, it had about 115,000 miles, but looked to be in excellent shape. Or so I thought...
There have been problems under the hood (don't ask me to explain...LOL) to the tune of over $2k, replacement of the sunroof motor, replace headliner in entire vehicle, replace motor in one of the power windows. This is only a portion of what's gone wrong.
I guess you can't expect too much out of a car with over 100,000 miles and being that old, but geez! Now the passenger door will not open and the motor for that window is messed up, the seatbelts don't work properly, and the rear brakes need to be replaced. Did I mention the entire a/c went out too? Good thing I don't have to drive this car very often. If you are looking at buying an older model, be prepared for things to start failing even if it looks in "mint" condition.
