People who attend Drexel University fall into two groups of people. The first is the group that enjoys the experience because they take advantage of what the school provides and overcome what the school doesn't. The second group generally feels "shafted" by the school because everything isn't perfectly prepackaged and spoon fed to them.
I fall into the first group and can say I greatly enjoyed my time at Drexel. The academic program was strong (with few exceptions) and I gained a solid computer science background. Granted there were a few professors and classes I disliked, but I expect that happens at any school.
The Co-op program is fantastic. Being a five year program, I spend the middle three alternating between six months of paid work and six months of class. Drexel's program is second to Northeastern's in size but Drexel has more paid positions (at least when I was there). The three jobs I had providing invaluable experience and gave me a feel for what kind of job I would look for when I graduated. It was a good feeling to interview against people from M.I.T. and get the job because I could talk about my real life experience in the field!
There are people who complain that when you are on co-op, you still pay tuition. This didn't bother me. After all, I was getting academic credit for it and total bill after five years wasn't any greater then most private schools.
I was involved in athletics (crew) and loved it even though funding for the programming was often tight.
Living in Philadelphia was fun and I was able to take advantage of the many things the city has to offer like the museums, bars, clubs, stores, and so on.
To summarize, if you have the maturity of a 7 year old child, Drexel is not for you. If you want a quality education, work experience in your field, and a JOB after graduation, Drexel is a great choice.
