I have been on the Drexel University Sailing Team for 3 years now. I have to say that the sailing team has made my college experience much more enjoyable. I have crewed and skippered the many boats that we have in our fleet. They include club 420's, a club 470, and a laser besides our crash boat. I love the pride we have for our team. We are a very close group of teammates as well as friends. I hate that our season is only 3 months in the Fall and 3 months in the Spring. It would be nice to sail year-round like schools in the southern states are able to do. Any undergraduate at Drexel can participate in the sailing club, even if you have never been on a boat. Members of our team range from novice to highly experienced sailors. We are an inter-collegiate team that competes with other colleges that have sailing as a club or varsity sport. The support of our athletic department and our club sports coordinator makes sailing a great sport to participate in while at college. I feel a great sense of school pride and belonging at my university.
