Maybe I was spoiled as an undergraduate at a major state institution, but the food service at Drexel is astonishingly poor. I have asked and asked if there is another place to eat on campus, and I am routinely told, "Nope."
There is an all-you-can-eat restaurant under MacAlister Hall at the corner of 33rd and Chestnut Streets. I went in there once. I was hoping for a snack. I am a little person and don't eat much, making all you can at $7.95 absurd.
The cashier at the dining hall let me see what was available. In a mostly empty room I was given the option of a few grilled items (hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese); a poor salad bar; a few cereals and not much else. Some undergraduate students living on campus and using the meal plan tell me it isn't as bad as I suspect. They must be right as I regularly see students coming and going.
The closest thing I found for food was the campus bookstore, in MacAlister Hall, (where I could get peanut m-n-ms and a few other snack foods.
Recently in the same area of MacAlister, where the campus bookstore is located, they have opened a Freshens yogurt, Smoothie King and Blimpie (or some other sub shop). They usual prices and decent food. The only thing I hope will improve with time is the service.
