Drexel is a University in transition. All the negative things everyoen has come to think about it, its administration, its faculty, and its philosophy have been turned on their ear since it was taken over by the Greek mafia. In order to bring the programs up to speed, more money was needed, in order to get more money, more students were needed, so the floodgates were opened and the student population exploded in just a few short years. As a result of this, new staff have had to be brought on board, undertrained and underqualified. The school is just now beginning to catch up to this extreme growth. The housing shortage will be a thing of the past with the completion of the new dorm (currently under construction). The personell in the offices have gotten consistently better during my tenure here (though they couldn't have gotten worse to start).
Would I reccomend someone come here now? No, I can't say I would. There are a lot of schools that will give you the same sheepskin you'll get here and help you along a lot more.
Would I recomend someone come here in another 5 years? Yes. I think that the changes that have been set in motion will ultimately develop this University into a great place.
The end all and be all of Drexel education is Co-op. But like everything else, you take the good with the bad. They provide you with a connection to employers, getting the job is contingent on your ability to differentiate yourself from your classmates. This isn't apathy (as another review would have you believe), this is life. A student is classed on resume writing, interviewing, and given the basic skills on getting a job. Once you have the job, you learn to do what it really is you'll be doing with that $100k parchment you'll be getting at the end of it. Some of what you learn is applied, some of it isn't. All of it is useful. That experience you graduate with is something that thousands of other college grads won't have when they interview at the same company you do.
Overall, I like it here. Its work hard, play hard, and get used to living in the jungle.
