Pros: Walking distance to all attractions, attentive service, PB&J and Hot Chocolate
Cons: Parking, if not part of a package.
The Bottom Line: A great place to stay that is out of the way but close enough to enjoy the usual attractions of New Orleans.

| kldavis99's Full Review: Le Pavillon Hotel |
This is the first time my wife and I have visited New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina. So heading back to New Orleans brought a sense of wonder as to how the city has faired as compared to what is spoon fed to you in the news. We had to see for ourselves and make our own decisions. First i would like to say that the city is thriving. Granted, it has not fully regained it swagger from years past, but you can still have a great time in the Big Easy. At the risk of rambling i am going to get to the purpose -- writing a review on the La Pavillon Hotel.
Why do I title this review "Close but far enough away"? Sometimes you don't necessarily want to be around all the crowds. La Pavillon is great hotel to stay that is close to the Harrahs Casino, French Quarter, and Bourbon street. All are in walking distance. That is a great plus. La Pavillon is on Poydras, an easily accessible street. The location of the hotel is quite easy to get to. You don't have to worry about finding the hotel on many of the smaller side streets that New Orleans is known for.
La Pavillon reminds me of the elegance and romance of hotels of the past. It is truly a hotel for romantics. Adding to its opulence, the chandeliers were grand and immaculate. It is a great place to celebrate newly wedded bliss or celebrating your anniversary. The staff of the hotel greet you and treat you as if you are royalty. I was little smitten at the fact that the door man remember my name. You don't find that everywhere. This is the first time I didn't feel like i was herded in and rushed out like many of your major chain hotels make you feel.
The rooms were nicely appointed. My wife and I stayed in a Deluxe King room. The room was quite comfortable and comparable to many similar rooms of hotels with the same rating. It has your standard TV, desk and small table and two chairs.
Other amenity i enjoyed was working out in the workout facility on the roof of the hotel. If you so choose, you can sit in the hot tub or sauna. Along with the pool, there is a great view of the city. It is a great way to cool off after a good workout. Yes i spent some time in the workout facility because of the complimentary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hot chocolate they give nightly at 10pm.
A great way to save money on extra meals and parking is the grab one of the packages they offer. My wife and I opted for the Big Easy Package that includes breakfast each day and Sunday brunch if you are staying over the weekend and Parking each night. With the going rate of $28 to $32 dollars a night, that can save you few pennies you can use elsewhere if you so choose.
Side Note: Our stay occurred during Halloween weekend. New Orleans kicked off their first annual Halloween parade. The Krewe of Boo ran through the french quarter to Canal Street. It was a blast seeing all the costumes and having a great time catching beads and candy. A great reason to visit New Orleans for Halloween.
