If you ask me this was a very good movie. I well awake for most of the movie. The Battle scenes were outstanding and the effects were tremendous.
Main Ideas of the Movie
This film took place in Ancient Europe during Roman times. The story begins with a honored General named Maximus who has done everything for Rome that can be done by him. Infact he has done so much that the emperor of Rome considered him more a son than his own son. Out of jealousy and greed the son kills his father the emperor and inherits the thrown. Meanwhile he has some of his guards try to kill Maximus but instead, Maximus out smarts these guards and kills them in self-defense. From that point on his goal was to return home and save his family, except that the jerk of an emperor ordered his family raped, killed, and burned on crosses. When he finds his family dead and burned, he then gave up and was very mellow. From that point on he just laid around until a slave driver found him and made him fight in the local arenas. He naturally was the best and because of his greatness he was asked to fight in Rome. If you are further interested in this film go see it. As i do not want to give too much away.
One thing I forgot to mention is that this movie is 2hours and 45 minutes long, meaning that there are many conversations that are quite boring and are really not needed. The ending could have been better as well. Don't get me wrong, this is a great movie everyone should see it.
