Pros: Beautifully written, Great lesson
Cons: A little scary
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, in my humble opinion no book to this day has inspired the true spirit of Christmas quite like this one. It is a somewhat creepy tale, capable of giving bad dreams to even the most grown up of grown ups but perhaps...

Pros: Simply a stunning book

Pros: Great story beautifully told

Say what you will, but Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is nothing less than the story of one man's salvation and an example of the hope for redemption that everyone can have if they but make the choice. I have heard and read this story...

In order to get into the Christmas spirit, A Christmas Carol works its magic to do this. If ever there were a reason to consistently act in the Christmas spirit, A Christmas Carol relays this reasoning. This novel is a bit shorter than the classic...

A Classic for the 19th Century
by silverbluejay ,Dec 18 '04
Pros: Wonderful descriptions, very touching.
Cons: some obscure references, and too short!!
This is still the premier book to put you in the Christmas mood. Quite a spiritual book, too, without being over the top. The writing is quaint. I wish Dickens were alive so I could tell him in person! How fortunate we are to have this classic. It has spawned lots of Scrooge-like tales, including the Grinch and others. No movie, except Alistair Sim's version comes even close to capturing this novel. And the only adult themed novel today that comes close to rivaling this classic is The Long Night of Clement C. Craggogre, by Bob Comenole. That's a heart wrenching and spiritual book, too, with a surprise and joyous ending. Go buy A Christmas Carol; you'll enjoy it forever!
