Last month I reviewed the then-new Apple MacBook in its variouis flavors and came largely impressed. As an iBook replacement these represent the very best consumer portables Apple (or anyone else) has ever released, but as a 12” PowerBook replacement it ...
Pros: Cool black color, great design, fantastic screen, usable software, long battery life. Cons: Black gets dirty, chiclet-like keyboard, drive capacities, more expensive than other laptop options
I used to be a Mac aficionado back in the days of the Lisa, Mac 512K and Mac Plus, with my own little Appletalk network and even the LaserWriter Plus. At the time, it was state-of-the-art for doing things like graphics and desktop publishing. Heck, I ...
Pros: Excellent overall aesthetic & functional design, fantastic new features Cons: New keyboard design feels different, glossy screen seems to increase glare
I recently upgraded from the Macintosh iBook G4 to the 13 inch MacBook (Black) and couldnt be happier! Below Ive listed and described the 7 biggest things Apple has changed (upgraded) since the iBook G4. Since most potential buyers are ...
Pros: Exceptional design, size, fit & finish; excellent software bundle Cons: heavier than it looks; only 2 USB ports
I've had the black MacBook for a week now, after having used and built Windows desktops since 1992. My last machines were Windows laptops: A 75Mhz NEC, then a 600Mhz Acer (13"), and finally a VAIO S (also 13"). What I like: Cosmetically, the ...
Pros: Portability, Power, beautiful design, Frontrow remote, iLife '06, good wireless range, the list goes on. Cons: had to reinstall OSX, really... that's about it.
I bought this laptop needing to have a recording rig more portable than my trusty iMac G5, and I must say, I'm very impressed. It's faster than my 2.0 ghz iMac G5 (it totally walked it in XBench!), It's absolutely gorgeous! I paid the "black tax" because ...
Pros: Intuitive powerful and stylish. Cons: a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.
AS I scientist, I bought this laptop to write presentations and access large powerful computers. It certainly was capable of those tasks but the little guy has floored me with how great it is. As a hardcore user, I am unaccustomed to actually LIKING ...
much like the commercials would lead you to believe mac and PC are NOT friends....infact mac is a jealous step child to PC and will destroy and semblance of pc's existance if you give it the chance---more on that later. aside from my problem with ...
The MacBook is a high quality machine with only a few flaws. It is fast, compact, lightweight, and well-designed. Have no fear about the keyboard. It's excellent, despite its non-conventional looks. The glossy screen is beautiful; despite using it in a wide range of settings, I have no problems with glare. I only have two complaints: one is that the black finish collects fingerprints rather easily. It's not bad enough that I wish I had selected the white machine instead, but it's something Apple could work on for the next revision. The last is the "mooing" sound that many have commented on. It seems to be a problem only when the laptop is plugged in, but it's still annoying. I've put a complete review up http://techrecs.com/?p=12, but the most important thing is to take a look at the laptop in person for yourself.
Pros: good looks, impeccable form and build. Cons: Reliability??, performance sometimes feels like my old G4 - wait for more intel development.
First up the MacBook is gorgeous, beautiful screen, great size, sizes up perfectly next to an A4 folder. My first gripe is the standard RAM installation (512MB) which leaves Tiger clunking around like the gearbox in an old jalopy, you're almost guaranteed to need an upgrade - this I fixed, and ran happily for 1 week. After completing my migration to the now smooth and newly powerful machine, I've had to return it to my Apple dealer today with an unknown failure that manifested this morning in a completely dead MacBook - not dropped, bumped, nothing more than closing the screen last night and opening it this morning. Reviews on the net raise my fears of random drive and other failures, and I'm dreading navigating the warrentee process (at least in South Africa). Thankfully I still have my old iBook G4, just missing 1 week of work. My advice - it's like buying the newest model auto: there are going to be recalls and improvements made by Apple - think twice about rushing in to the new product until some of this has filtered through.
Pros: Size, software, battery life, webcam, ... Cons: Games
Great little laptop, very small and powerful at the same time. I am a PC user and the difference is incredible. Apple software never crashes and is very stable.
Includes an embedded webcam, nice for ichat or skype video chatting.
I mainly use the macbook for home use : internet, email, website publishing, downloading, movies, etc... and it is particularily useful for warching movies in bed for example !
I regret one thing only : i cannot play new games.
