Bose SoundDock For IPod---Excellent !!!! by lurock ,Dec 26 '08
Pros: Crisp, clean, crystal clear, deep base, loud, beautiful, attractive and probably the best sounding Cons: No FM tuner or clock display but I already have an alarm clock for that.
I actually purchased the Klipsch IGroove based on a lot of reviews I read and the fact that it also cost 1/2 of what the Bose SoundDock was selling for. Well, after just a few days of listening to what I would say was very muffled sound with big base and not so much clarity, I decided on buying the Bose. All I can say about this is very simple, if you are looking for absolutely beautiful, rich, clear, crisp, deep base, loud and worth every penny sound, then you have no other choice but the Bose. Yes, you can save some $$ and buy cheaper, but you will get what you paid for. Before you buy, go to your local electronic store and hear it yourself.
My Newest Nano 3rd Gen. is incompatible with Dock. by uncleenrico ,Mar 12 '08
Pros: Rich, bright sounds, extremely compact, attractive appearance, wonderful accessory for the IPOD. Cons: Compatibility issue is serious.
Too few controls on the dock.
This less expensive non-portable unit has great sound, looks terrific and it's compact. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with my newest Nano, the 3rd Gen. Nano, the square one with the big screen which plays videos.
My older 2nd Gen. Nano, the long one works fine.
The 3rd Gen. Nano will play for a few minutes and then turn off as if someone pushed the off button on the remote.
I've developed a work-around to play the 3rd Gen. I start with the 2nd Gen. Nano and then replace it with the 3rd Gen. without turning off the 2nd Gen. The 3rd Gen. will then play without a problem.
This is a hassle, and if I knew I would face this, I wouldn't have bought this unit.
I sent the first one back to the on-line retailer and got a new one with the same problem. I assume it's a design problem.
Bose has no explanation for the issue. They're blaming my 3nd Gen. Nano which works fine on its own or with the work-around I discovered.
