Rugged good looks, Japanese quality, excellent value
by nipa ,Jun 23 '06
Pros: Rugged good looks, Japanese quality, construction will last forever. Cons: Calendar not perpetual will expire 2039, mineral glass not glare resistant(?), no rubber strap.
Who really *needs* a Swiss Made 500m watch costing thousands when the Casio G100-1BV serves your demanding activity needs equally well.
It has rugged good looks, 200m WR which should suffice for all moderate-level diving needs, a scratch-resistant mineral crystal face, a dual-time interface, and good usability, and all wrapped in a shock-resistant construction to contemporary Japanese quality.
The only cons are the Calendar is not perpetual, it will expire end of 2039 so I wonder why it could not just as well been programmed until 2099 or even 3000. Also a natural rubber diving strap would be more comfortable than the resin one (strictly speaking not "plastic" as Epinions states).
All in all, the Casio G100-1BV is an ideal watch for explorers, military, and great outdoors sports.

Best watch I've ever owned
by jmac222 ,Feb 03 '06
Pros: Looks great, tough and functional, lives up to G-Shock reputation. Highly recommended. Cons: Digital display can be hard to read when hands in lower part of watch.
I was looking for a watch under $100 that looked both stylish, yet was very tough and functional. This watch (have had it for over 1 and 1/2 years) has lived up to all. It combines the traditional analog face, with a smaller digital window below that gives the extra functions of stopwatch, alarm, etc., or even just the time digitally depending on your preference.
I have worn this while doing everything (diving, running, hiking, weight training, etc.), and the face is still clear, the band is in excellent condition, and it functions perfectly. Highly recommended.
