Pros: Fairly painless installation; Phone charger not tied to PC; Standard AAA batteries; GREAT quality. Cons: Contact list on phone can't be sync'd with Skype account. No 911 (emergency) calls.
First of all, I got a great deal on this phone. I paid just $29.99 plus shipping (for a total of $38 and change for shipping in the US) for a refurbished unit from TigerDirect.com. The refurbished CIT200 seemed to be not quite as ‘refreshed’ as I ...
Pros: Lightweight, good sound quality, many features, easy to use Cons: Cheap plastic cradle, weak Hands Free microphone
Linksys CIT200 IP Wireless Phone (for Skype) I picked up this cordless phone after having reading some good reviews. I have been using Skype with a USB headset (to my satisfaction), but I didn't like being obligated to sit behind my PC when ...
Pros: Marvelous coverage. Seamless integration with Skype. Fast/simple to use out of the box. Cons: NO Linux/MacOS support! Pricey for modest sound quality. Connection flakey. Support doesn't know product.
Having been a long time Skype user and fan of its great quality and innovation, I have long awaited a cordless phone solution to get me away from the computer and truly bring Skype into the realm of a home phone system. Consider that nail hit squarely on ...
Pros: Phone works flawlessly. Calls are clear and undistorted. Cons: Poor documentation. Install programs hijacks windows sound settings.
I've used Skype for a while to call home from overseas etc., so I was excited to see this product become available. It gives me the opportunity to have a home phone for cheap. (I ditched my landline years ago.) The quick installation instructions ...
Pros: Controls Skype, not just a wireless earphone
Works as advertised then some. Cons: No charging stand LED.
Charging phone display should stay lit.
Love the CIT200. I see others posting its flakey connection to Skype. That's true IF you boot Skype, yourself, which you shouldn't! Boot the CIT200 interface and let IT boot Skype and it's solid. If you have Skype booting itself at startup, disable ...
Cit-200 Does What It's Supposed To by drosenstark ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: Good, works like it's supposed to Cons: Skype only, resets occasionally
There are some mild inconveniences, but in general the phone acts like it's supposed to: gives you a great-quality cordless phone that you use with Skype.
Good
- Access to skype contacts and voice mails.
- Cordless. The base is separate from the USB dongle, which is perfect.
- Drivers are pretty nice.
Bad
- Occasionally, you need to "register" the phone with the base (depending on how it was shut off)
- Phone ONLY works with Skype, so you can't use it with any other services
- Quite slow when you're trying to find a contact
- Really annoying: You can't dial nor accept calls from your computer. You MUST use the phone to do these things with the phone.

Instructions LACKING - can be difficult to install. by arch321 ,Feb 13 '07
Pros: Lots of features which most will never use for a secondary phone. Cons: Install may take HOURS to complete. Avoid this product.
Instructions and drivers not fully vetted/tested - can be a very long quirky install on many PCs. Customer service in the Philipines will know less than you. Quite obviously not fully tested before its release. Will conflict with some sound cards. Enclosed CD with drivers not compatible with current Skype software. Very feature rich, unnecessary IMHO for a Skype phone. Sound quality very inconsistent, usually similar to a bad Cell phone. Many other better Skype phones available with better instructions.
Installation Instructions INCOMPLETE & INCORRECT by ricklow ,Feb 12 '07
Pros: When it works, it is of just average quality. Cons: Difficult install. Not user friendly. Compatibility issues with wireless nets, instructions are incomplete .....Don't buy.
VERY DIFFICULT INSTALL on some PCs. Buy another SKYPE VOiP phone. 3rd party Customer service in Philipines - will be of little help - you will be on your own. Feature rich, lots of bells and whistles - 99% of which you will NEVER need. Many compatibility issues. I finally got it installed after many hours - not worth the trouble. Sound quality: like a cheap "free" CELL PHONE. Install/instructions NOT FULLY TESTED/VETTED by COMPANY. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL/PRODUCT!
Great low cost Skype cordless phone by chin_alvin ,Jun 10 '07
Pros: Low price on EBay. It works as advertised. Cons: Belt clip broke off and the base is not very sturdy.
Got my CIT200 for $25 used on EBay. The plastic belt clip broke off and the base is not very sturdy. I bought this phone because I didn't want to pay $150 for the newer CIT400 but I like it so much, I will probably keep it instead.
Phone works great, but service is not good! by jtstarke ,Aug 17 '07
Pros: Works fine and is cordless, which I really like, not being attached to the computer. Cons: Service is horrible if the phone breaks. It's outsourced and they read from scripts.
I've had the phone for 7 months and it worked fine. Then it stopped receiving voice and I went thru the Linksys Warrantee hotline. Horrible service. Help desk people haven't a clue. Finally sent a replacement (reconditioned. Charger base was dead. I've now been waiting a week for Linksys to email me a postage paid RMA label to return it. I call them and no clue. One help desk person insisted that my RMA had expired from the day before. After 45 minutes on the phone, she told me 24 hrs more. The next day the help desk person told me 24 hrs more, and the next day the same. I'm up against a weekend now with no end in sight.
Got back from vacation and my replacement phone was waiting finally. It works. I'm up and running.
Pros: The new Linksys CIT200 is great! Cons: Cannot get a ring on BOTH your PC and the handset together.
As a long time SKYPE user, I have long wanted to have some mobility....rather than sitting in front of my PC with headphones on...
The Linksys CIT200 arrived yesterday ( Nov. 2, 2005 ), was easily installed, works great. I can walk anywhere on my house lot and still receive/send from the base station. Their claims on range are very likely true. This will be a big boon for SKYPE users!
