Lodge Cast Iron Skillet 20SK2--Do you know how big this pan really is?

by CyndiA Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jan 31 '01
Pros: Lodge pans are terrific! Even cooking. Last forever.
Cons: This is a HUGE pan. 20SK2=20 inches around and 2 1/4 high. Weight=27 lbs.
Lodge is celebrating 100 years of making pans cast from iron. They even have a special cookbook to go with the Lodge pans which is available at the web site.

Lodge makes the entire pan in a cast (mold) which is where the cast name comes from,...

by Skywarp , Dec 05 '00
Pros: Cast iron makes the best skillets.
Cons: These particular skillets are too costly.
If you're big on pan-fried foods, you probably are already aware of cast iron's prowess as the perfect skillet material. If not, I urge you to buy at least one cast iron skillet to try. Just.... Don't buy these iron skillets, unless you want to pay a...

My Grandmother & Mother Used This Skillet Extensively!

by daquan Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jun 01 '03
Pros: Great for Searing Roasts, Steaks, Chops & for Frying Chicken!
Cons: Very Heavy, But Good. Will Rust If Not Kept Seasoned ( Greased ).
I've had this skillet for many years now. I've lost the tiny one that came with it. I wonder if I can get the tiny one alone.

But the 12-inch skillet is a very true versatile piece of cookware. I've cooked just about everything in this...

The Only Meat Pan You Will Ever Need

by BlackBear Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 05 '00
Pros: Easy to clean and maintain
Cons: Not dishwasher safe, can rust if mistreated
I'll start off with this statement: I'm not exactly sure what brand of skillet I own. The thing has been in my family for three (maybe more) generations. I got mine from my Grandmother and it is highly likely that she got it from her mother. The reason...

This stuff is the ONLY cookware.

by petulengro , Aug 10 '04
Pros: Indestructable, stable, wonderful to cook on, easy to clean.
Cons: Larger pieces are heavy.
Folks, crusty old Cookie from the chuckwagon knew what he was doing. He didn't have teflon pots, or copper-bottomed pots, or enamel pots with pretty little flowers on them. You know what would have happened if he had? No, I mean OTHER than the ...

by charles Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Feb 24 '01
Pros: Heavy and sturdy; great cooking utensil; long-lasting
Cons: Can get rusted
My grandparents had their sets. And so did my parents. I grew up eating meals cooked out of these skillets. I like them and don't want my wife to go without them. Invest in them once and forget about them for ever. The Lodge Cast Iron Skillets 20SK2...

Pros: Extremely durable, not too expensive
Cons: Can rust if not taken care of properly
A couple of years ago I purchased a set of Lodge Cast Iron Skillets, and I recommend them to everyone every time the subject of cooking comes up- they're great! I doubt I'll ever need to buy a set of frying pans again, since these are so durable (after...
