I have found that Windows XP is very useful. I like many things about it and have found my computer time much easier. I enjoy the fact that Windows XP does most of the work for you. You can navigate through things much easier and find things much quicker. The programs that are used the most are conveniently listed in the start up menu and allows for easy access. I acquired the Windows XP when I had my computer built for me. It so far has been the best Windows I have worked with.

Pros: It's so automatic.
Cons: It's not one, if it is i haven't came upon it yet.

If I had the choice, I would choose XP over 98. It's better established and up-to-date. I love how it's so automated and you don't have to do everything manually. It warns you every time when something is not up-to-date.

I'm not sure why--the program is very intuitive--but I don't like it. Could it be because it freezes up at least once during each session? Whatever--the 2E of '98 worked better, and when my new Dell arrived with XP and I got the drift, I found myself wishing I had kept the 98 SE software.

After finding out the hard way,(A local PC shop installing a counterfeit OS on my computer) I've discovered that it is nearly impossible to to change operating systems between the XP choices. 98 to XP and back can be done, NT to XP,etc. but not XP Pro to XP Home. This has become very troubling for me, a novice, when trying to rebuild my system. I've enjoyed the ease of using both Windows programs, but am distressed about the inability to simply change the OS to the other without having to reinstall every program I have ever had on my PC.
Be sure to know which version of Windows XP you want for your system before you get too far and save your self the migraine that I have had.

This is by far the most user-friendly, easy-to-navigate, secure operating system I have used. I am pretty partial to Microsoft as far as OS go anyway, but this one is great. The ability to have multiple user accounts, great backgrounds, easy access to programs, etc. There is even an option to resort to "classic" view in the control panel for those of you who are used to the old Windows view. I don't really have anything bad to say about this OS, especially now that it has been out for a bit & is a little cheaper. No real issues with it

Pros: Sleak looks, tight security, easy to use
Cons: Too many "windows updates".They're not major fixes either, just ones you wouldn't ever notice.

Windows XP is by far the best OS on the market. With its sleak looks and top notch security, not to mention it's user friendly ...it beats other OS's hands down.

However, there are some aspects to the OS that I think are just pointless. Upon startup, Windows XP runs several programs in the background, some of which I'm not sure is really needed. All those programs sometimes tend to slow things down a bit. But if you have enough RAM to run all those programs, you should be OK, despite all those other background programs.

Windows XP is THE OS to own. Any older version just doesn't cut it these days.
